Message from the Dallastown Wrestling Booster Club

The 2001-2002 school year will soon be upon us and it is now time to start thinking about this year’s wrestling season. We have a large group of returning seniors that have been with the Dallastown Wrestling Program since their elementary years. We also have returning underclassmen who will be an asset to our program, as well as some new faces from the junior high program.
Once again we will be opening our wrestling season at the Wilson Tournament facing good competition including the defending State AA team champion, Wilson High School. After competing in two tough dual meets, we will be heading for the Manheim Township Wrestling Tournament. This tournament is a first for Manheim Township and will include both JV and Varsity teams at one tournament. After two more challenging meets, the Annual Holiday Tournament featuring Lower Dauphin, State College, and Cedar Cliff will be held at the brand new Dallastown Senior High School gymnasium. This will be our first opportunity to show off our new facility. Hurray!!! At the end of December, we will be facing the State AAA Team Champion, Easton High School, as well as other very competitive wrestling schools at the Manheim Holiday Tournament. In Mid-January, we will be hosting the first Dallastown Duals, a Varsity and JV Tournament. In addition, we will be having Elementary Day in which we will recognize the elementary school wrestlers and their coaches. We hope this will become an annual event.
The junior high program will have another very competitive year with a large number of returning wrestlers. We will welcome back returning coaches, Joe Klindinst and Neil Barnes.
The cheerleading squad will be ready for the season to support, cheer for, and entertain the wrestling family and friends with their usual enthusiastic choreographed routines. We are proud to have them as a part of our wrestling family. We welcome their returning coach, Angie Gable.

The Booster Club has many fundraising activities planned for this year.  Since we will not be returning to Reno, we will not have the big expense associated with sending a team to this tournament. However, we would like to continue our fundraising activities so that we can look at other avenues to utilize Booster Club monies, such as revamping the scholarships given to seniors.  Activities such as Basket Bingo, candy sale, stromboli sale, and clothing sales will be scheduled much like they were last year. We are fortunate to have in our new gymnasium facility a concession stand that will allow us to sell food and clothing.
At Meet the Team Night, November 28, 2001, we will be selling Basket Bingo tickets, which will be held on December 10th. We will be asking for your help with our fund raising activities, which will benefit all the wrestlers in our Dallastown Wrestling Program from elementary up to high school. Please get involved with this worthwhile endeavor. You will enjoy being a part of our wrestling family.

Bill Eshenour, Dallastown Wrestling Booster Club President
