Careers in Political Science

Political Science in many ways is an ideal liberal arts major with many practical applications. Political Science majors acquire skills in research, writing, and independent thinking as they study domestic and foreign affairs. They work in many areas including
  business    law
  journalism   politics
  teaching at all levels   advocacy
  international organizations    the media
  federal, state and local
     government
  policy studies

Because of its breadth and depth, political science  has always been a very popular undergraduate major.  It is also a very common major for students intending to continue their studies in law school.

York College political science graduates can be found in all of the above areas.  Students should meet regularly with one of the political scientists on the faculty to discuss specific career preparation.  In general, students should take advantage of internships and other leadership opportunities.  All students should also consider a judicious selection of elective courses, perhaps leading to a minor.  It is very important that you work with your faculty advisor and the Office of Careers and Counseling in order to take full advantage of what York College  can offer to prepare you for your first job and your eventual career.
