Ethical Issues in Criminal Justice

Ethics in Criminal Justice is very important. Most decisions by CJ practitioners impact people's lives, liberty or property in a significant way. And most of these decisions are discretionary in nature.

CJA203 is designed to be a practical class whereby Ethical theory is married to practice.

Students get to examine their own values and see how they mesh with the 'Real World' of Criminal Justice.

The class provides students the opportunity of analyzing and evaluating situations and approaches to managing those situations.

It gives them practice in problem-solving.

It enables them to appreciate the ethical concerns in a variety of Criminal Justice employment settings. In doing so it bridges CJA101 Intro to Criminal Justice with CJA360 Criminal Justice Practicum ( more commonly referred to as an "internship").
